Mary Ann “Meam” Cassidy, age 83, of Hanover Township, Clinton, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Mary Ann was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on April 27, 1942, daughter to the late Annabelle (Connolly) and Joseph Suchma; devoted wife of 62 years to the late Robert James “Jim” Cassidy who passed on July 7, 2024; beloved mother to Joyce (Mike) Fentross, Colleen (Jack) Magee, James (Kim) Cassidy, Marcy (Bill) Stevenson, Dan (Chris) Cassidy, and Susie Cassidy (John Miles); cherished grandmother to 13; adored great-grandmother to 14; loving sister to Ed (Terry) Suchma, Deborah (Bill) Biernesser, Rick (Marlene) Suchma, and Kathryn (Jerry) Kalinoski.
Mary Ann was the heart and soul of her large family and lived a life marked by selflessness, generosity, and quiet strength. She was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, and she expressed that faith through kindness, patience, and a heart open to everyone. Mary Ann welcomed others without hesitation, even offering her home to a stranger who needed a place to sleep. Her compassion extended to every corner of her life.
With Jim, Mary Ann instilled in their children the importance of forgiveness, a value they lived daily and passed on through their example. When her children were grown, she worked for years at Focus on Renewal, a community service organization where she brought the same warmth, understanding, and decency that defined her home life. Mary Ann was kind. She was good. She was deeply decent in a way the world doesn’t always remember to be.
Mary Ann was small but sassy and serious about the simple joys of life – strong coffee, good company, and sandwiches that somehow always tasted like they were made with love. Her patience was legendary, especially with Jim, the love of her life, whom she indulged and cared for devotedly, never truly recovering from losing him.
Everyone who knew Mary Ann is better for having been loved by her.
Best. Mom. Ever.
Rest in peace, Meam.
